Statement

My artistic creation is the result of a lifetime spent exploring the idea that knowledge is always relative, uncertain and somewhat diffuse. An object, an event or an emotion can be observed and experienced from countless different perspectives, in different contexts and under different assumptions. Although the essence of knowledge cannot be reached, I believe that the more I explore this idea, the closer I get to the essence of some knowledge, in an almost religious experience.
I have been exploring this idea through painting, developing some aesthetic approaches. Adding levels of abstraction brings me closer to the essence of some concept or event or emotion that underlies the moment of creation. A certain physicality that I put into painting is also part of my artistic identity.
Painting has been my main focus in recent years, largely inspired by the abstract expressionism movement. I've also been working in other art forms, particularly photography.
